The Houston Affiliate of American Woman’s Society of Certified Public Accountants (AWSCPA) will award scholarships of $2,500 each to three women accounting students at its annual Charter Renewal Dinner meeting at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, June 21, 2012.
To qualify, a woman must meet ALL of the following requirements:
citizen of the United States of America,
declared accounting as her major,
completed 20 hours toward a degree,
completed 12 hours of accounting, and
submit an application by May 23, 2012.
Candidates will be evaluated based on their academic performance, financial need, extracurricular activities and achievements, community involvement, and professional recommendations. Only applications emailed or postmarked by May 23, 2012 will be considered. Applications, official transcripts, and recommendation letters must be received no later than May 26, 2012 to be included in the evaluation process.
Please include your email and a phone number on the application. Award notification will be made by June 11. Attendance at the dinner meeting on June 21, 2012 is required to accept the scholarship award. If you have any questions, please e-mail me (preferred), or call me at 713-254-6732. 6:00pm: Zoo tour by Leslie Forestier 7:00pm: Announcements, Presentations, and Boxed Dinner Location:Houston Zoo
Please park at the Zoo at the main entrance side (across the street from the old golf course club house inside Herman Park. We will be meeting at the aquarium. When you come through the Zoo entrance, go past the ticket booths, and look to your right. You will see a brick building with a kiosk out front. The kiosk has what looks like a rhino bursting out of the building. The aquarium is to the right of the kiosk. We will meet outside of the aquarium for the Zoo tour and return to the aquarium after the tour for dinner and the presentation.
You will not need any tickets to get into the Zoo. Enter on the Exit side and let the guard at the gate know that you are there for an event.
