2017 Seminar: Unconscious Bias

The human brain has an unfortunate tendency to perform in an irrational manner preventing us from making sound decisions.  The failure to recognize the unconscious biases that influence your thinking and judgment can result in ineffective, even bad, decisions.  This workshop helps participants to recognize the cognitive biases that influence judgment and presents steps that can be taken to overcome these biases.

Dr. Jeanne Yamamura, CPA, CGMA, MIM, Ph.D.

Jeanne Yamamura brings a wealth of professional accounting and academic experience along with a healthy dose of humor to her presentations and workshops. Licensed as a CPA in Nevada and California, she has worked in public, private, and governmental accounting and auditing in the United States and internationally. She is currently serving as a mentor and coach for candidates studying for the CPA exam via CPAexcel. She also provides training for governmental accountants and auditors in Micronesia, Polynesia, and the Caribbean and CPAs in the USA. She holds a doctoral degree in business administration from Washington State University-Pullman, a master’s degree in international management from Thunderbird School of Global Management, and a bachelor’s degree in business administration from California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo
